From office buildings to restaurants, business is booming in Ridgeland

RIDGELAND, Miss. (WLBT) – From new distribution centers on Highland Colony Parkway to a new office building on South Maple Street, business is booming in Ridgeland.

Last week, the mayor and board of aldermen approved site plans for several projects, including a new office complex for South Maple Street, a gas station and drive-through restaurant for U.S. 51, and a Southern Beverage distribution center for Highland Colony.

The approvals represent even more economic development for a city that never really slowed down during the pandemic, said Mayor Gene McGee.

“Even during the Coronavirus period, our economy continued to stay strong,” he said. “That’s because we made decisions to do things to help our businesses do business, such as relaxing our zoning and sign ordinances.

Meanwhile, he said the city continues to foster a “quality environment” for development, with low taxes and low crime.
