Nationwide Fireworks Shortage Forces Claremore Business To Cancel Annual Show

The owners of a firework stand in Rogers County have canceled their annual show because of a nationwide shortage in product. They said the decision is to help keep product on the shelves at an affordable price for customers.

Monty Kapchinsky runs Lady Luck Fireworks along Highway 20 in Rogers County and has been in the industry for nearly 40 years. He said this is the first time he has ever had to deal with a shortage in product.

Kapchinsky said the shortage is in part because of higher shipping fees for fireworks outside of the country. As a result of the shortage, he decided to cancel their annual fireworks show to help save product.

He said the show typically attracts a big crowd and they hope to be back for next year.

“It hit us pretty hard, the people around here love this display and demo, we have food trucks, it’s a good family evening of fun,” said Kapchinsky. “We hated to make that call.”
