From large hotels to intimate inns, bookings at lodging establishments in the local area have rebounded and are already surpassing 2019 levels.
“To put it in perspective, it is July in June,” Samoset Resort General Manager Connie Russell said June 27. “That’s the way it feels. People have come a month early.”
June has set a record. This year, most people started booking in the spring, and the pace of July and August bookings is going strong, Russell said. Looking forward, he expects a really strong season.
The Samoset is seeing guests from their target market, which is primarily New England, the New York area and East Coast states down to Virginia. There are a lot more multi-generational families, from grandparents to the grandkids traveling together. “It’s those families that haven’t been together,” he said.
With 182 rooms, the Rockport resort is the largest lodging property in the Midcoast, and stays open most of the year,…
