In response to an increase of mental health needs spawned by the COVID-19 pandemic, an Elgin Community College wellness professional plans to open a new counseling business catering to Elgin residents.
Coresair Mack is an Illinois licensed clinical professional counselor. He seeks permission from the city to open his business in a suite inside the eight-story 164 Division St. property, commonly known as The Professional Building. The other offices in the building are occupied by attorneys and accountants.
Mack presented his business plans for Mack’s Empowerment Counseling to the city’s planning and zoning commission Monday night. He said he spent the last year helping students navigate the stress of the pandemic and the problems their parents faced because of COVID-19’s impact on health and the economy.
