People have been missing community events and, holy cow, did Humboldt County show up last weekend for the 100th anniversary of the Fortuna Rodeo!
The Fortuna Rodeo is just one of the many Humboldt County events that can help mold our communities, boost tourism, and create a positive financial impact on hospitality sector businesses. But, unfortunately, the rise in event-goers can also become your community stressor for small companies that are new or not quite prepared.
Last week, I spoke with business owners who loved every bit of the week-long rodeo festivities. New business owners were making new community connections, excited about the increased foot traffic, and others were proud of their storefront visibility thanks to the high volume of people. However, while talking to other companies, they didn’t feel prepared for the increased number of event-goers due to the workforce shortage and businesses worried about their customer’s experiences….
