GRAND RAPIDS, MI — The owners of an Alger Heights salon plan to open a ‘coffee and cocktails’ business in an adjoining space, further adding to business growth in the Southeast Grand Rapids community.
Jonathan Farman, co-owner of Urban Jonny’s Hair Salon at Eastern Avenue SE and Alger Street, announced the project Tuesday, July 20 and said it should be open by the beginning of next year.
Farman and co-owner Jon Frantz are buying the building at 810 Alger Street SE where the salon is located. The adjoining space previously was used for medical purposes.
Farman said he liked the idea of opening a place where people can get both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.
“I am a non-drinker and I love going out with my friends and am totally fine with being around alcohol, but one frustration I’ve had is I never really feel like I can go to a bar and get a really beautiful tasty drink that isn’t made with alcohol.
