Allen-based commerce firm PFSweb to sell its LiveArea business in $250 million deal

Allen-based PFSweb Inc. will sell its customer experience and commerce agency business LiveArea to Merkle Inc. in a $250 million deal, the company announced Tuesday.

LiveArea is one of two business lines that make up PFSweb, a global commerce services company established in 1994. The LiveArea business works with companies ranging from Adidas to Yeti and generated about $85 million in revenue in the 12 months ended March 31.

PFSweb is also exploring strategic alternatives for its remaining business, PFS, which provides e-commerce order fulfillment and management for companies like consumer products giant Procter & Gamble, L’Oreal, Pandora jewelry and Anastasia Beverly Hills cosmetics.

“When you have a transaction that’s a win for both companies, for shareholders and for our teams, that’s unique,” said Michael Willoughby, PFSweb chief executive officer.
