Baker announces $30 million in funding to help small businesses recover from pandemic

The Baker-Polito administration on Wednesday announced $30 million in state funding across four grant programs administered by the Massachusetts Growth Capital Corp. to help small businesses recover from the coronavirus pandemic.

Of that amount, $4 million will go to 45 nonprofit technical-assistance providers to continue working with women, people of color and veterans around applying for loans, building a business plan and budgeting. Another $14.7 million has been awarded to 15 nonprofits under a program that funds both lending and “mini-grants” for small businesses. And the administration also announced the launch of two new programs with $11.3 million available to support small businesses.

“To address the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on the commonwealth’s small businesses and main streets, our administration put forward the largest relief program in the nation as part of our comprehensive plan for economic recovery,” Baker said in a…
