LIMA — Lima City Councilman Dr. Derry Glenn kicked off the Juneteenth weekend on Friday afternoon by announcing the list of finalists for the third annual Black Business of the Year Award, given out through Lima’s Community Action Program.
The list of finalists includes five Black owned businesses in Lima, with Cecil’s Grill, Boilermaker Restaurant and Bar, Fresh N Faded Barber Shop, Black Lace Hair Salon, and Jones-Clark Funeral Home all being announced.
“It’s very important that we salute to the Black businesses and all the work they have done in our community,” Glenn said. “That’s why my organization, the Community Action Program, made a recommendation that we salute our Black businesses on Juneteenth.”
Glenn also noted that all of the finalists on the list have been impacted by the restrictions put in place during the COVID-19 pandemic, leaving salons, barbershops, restaurants, and funeral homes to close down completely or operate…
