Boutique convenience store sees brisk business after opening downtown

A new boutique convenience store opened in downtown Hot Springs to serve tourists and locals alike under the leadership of Lauray’s owner Toddy Pitard.

The Spa City Market, located two doors down from Lauray’s, offers a wide assortment of goods from snacks to drinks and more to those in the downtown area.

When the building became vacant, Pitard lept at the opportunity to lease the building. Once he secured the property, he didn’t initially know what to do with it. Pitard met with The Greater Hot Springs Chamber of Commerce to decide how to handle the space.

“I made a comment, ‘You know what, let’s let the people in Hot Springs decide what they want here and let’s make it fun,'” Pitard said.

After a contest and vote, the people of Hot Springs selected a boutique convenience store to open downtown.
