For the storefront occupying 261 W. Main St., it’s been a long road over the past four years, in more than just name. What began as just Green Road Pottery four years ago is now also Yahara Chocolate and Tea – and that last part has only been a part of the evolving business for around three months.
While the pottery side of the business hasn’t gone anywhere, it’s just not the primary focus as it once was. In some ways, owner Brook Johnson has done a 180 over the past few years, transitioning from being a pottery shop with some chocolate to being a chocolate shop with some pottery.
While he still teaches classes in his studio – most recently how to make clay pumpkins for Halloween and elves for Christmas – it’s clear that the cacao has displaced the ceramic.
