FALL RIVER — It’s not that Kevin Ferias doesn’t want your business.
It’s just that it wouldn’t serve any purpose to try to book an overnight stay for the rest of 2021 in his privately owned Taunton River lighthouse.
Ferias, who in 2018 bought the 1881 Fall River lighthouse originally known as Borden Flats Light, says he’s booked solid for the rest of this year and has reservations lined up for more than half of 2022.
He says when overnight stays resumed a year ago — after being closed three months due to COVID-19 state restrictions — it was like opening the proverbial floodgates.
“We were already booked solid six months in advance,” Ferias said. “People had cabin fever, and it’s been gangbusters since.”
He estimates he lost $32,000 in revenue during those three months in 2020 when his Borden Flats Lighthome, which sits near Mount Hope Bay, was locked down.
