Business developments: From ‘paint & sip’ to ATV, motorcycle repairs

The archway was mounted Friday at Fourth and Dewey, proclaiming the downtown area the Historical Canteen District in tribute to the World War II Canteen that fed millions of troops as they came and went by passenger train, to and from their duties overseas.

The arch at Fourth is one of two that will be erected as part of the “streetscape” improvements downtown. Another arch will eventually be installed over Dewey near the S Curve, organizers say.

Also, flowers have been planted in large planter boxes throughout the downtown area and trees are expected to be planted in July.

A brand-new downtown business, the Tipsy Canvas, is open on the bricks after a weeks of renovations to the building and preparations for daily business.
