Businesses see revenue grow in Q2 as recovery picks up speed

Small and midsized businesses have experienced a remarkable turnaround this year as the economic recovery accelerated despite the pandemic, with both revenue and headcount on the rise at many companies.

The CBIZ Main Street Index for the second quarter of 2021 polled more than 2,000 businesses with fewer than 100 employees across the U.S. in 27 industries, and found the number of businesses reporting revenue growth more than doubled, while the number of businesses reporting headcount growth more than doubled as well. However, the number of businesses concerned about hiring also increased significantly.

The wide availability of COVID-19 vaccines has prompted states and cities across the country to allow businesses to reopen this year after lockdowns last year.
