City launches small business support service to boost economic recovery

The city of San Diego launched a small business and restaurant assistance program this week to help them with pandemic recovery in the wake of the City Council approving Mayor Todd Gloria’s budget plan.

Businesses and restaurants with 25 or fewer employees will qualify for help navigating the city’s planning requirements, permitting process, thereby expediting construction projects and improvements that will allow businesses to grow.

The businesses expected to benefit include retail shops, home offices, gyms, catering facilities, and hair and nail salons.

“This small business concierge service …will help equitably jumpstart the City’s economy by targeting those that need assistance the most,” Gloria said in a statement.
