Clayfest highlights connection between Vegas artists and Casper business

CASPER, Wyo — Wyoming Clayfest 2021 brought renowned teachers from across the country to ART 321 to celebrate and teach the craft of transforming slabs of clay into (mostly) delicately-shaped, intricately-embellished, meaningful works of art.

The event brought in several members of Clay Arts Vegas, which has a unique relationship to Backwards Distillery in Casper.  Clay Arts Vegas co-owner Peter Jakubowski and Backwards’ owner Amber Pollock spoke about their relationship as an example of the often overlooked opportunities for business and the arts to collaborate.

For the last five years, clay artists at Jakubowski’s studio in Las Vegas have been creating cups inspired by the high-end spirits made at Backwards.  Pollock and her staff then create signature cocktails inspired by the cups, which are also for sale, along with a recipe card. The…
