But, in true Christmas spirit, the community stepped up to the plate. Several customers and local businesses offering support.

“We have the most amazing community,” Carr said. “The owner at Gianna’s Pizza uptown offered me his space. He went and got me fruit that morning from one of his suppliers and opened up his dining room to us and we were able to fill all the basket orders we had.”

She spent the past few days filling every last one of those orders and delivering them to residents in Meadville and the way to North East, hitting several stops in between.
The owner of Gianna’s Pizzaria told Erie News Now that he doesn’t want the recognition for helping, but says it’s just what you’re supposed to do, especially this time of year.

Carr said she wouldn’t have been able to step up and do all of this without these businesses and her husband’s parents who look after the kids and run out on deliveries to help out.
