Dollar bulls eye US inflation

Inflation and the US Federal Reserve’s (the Fed’s) policy response to heated consumer prices has underpinned US dollar (USD) strength for several months and next Friday the US Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) publishes Personal Consumption Expenditures data, the Fed’s favoured measure of inflation.

Meanwhile, euro (EUR) watchers also await eurozone inflation data for April, which is published on Friday alongside the region’s preliminary reading of first-quarter growth. The US releases its first-quarter gross domestic product (GDP) data a day earlier on Thursday.

The only major central bank in focus next week is the Bank of Japan (BoJ), which holds its April monetary policy meeting on Thursday.
