Downtown businesses hit with break-ins

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) – Three business owners in downtown Huntington were met Thursday morning with shattered glass and rattled nerves after break-ins overnight.

The Huntington Police Department released the following statement late Thursday afternoon:

The Huntington Police Department is investigating break-ins at three local businesses that occurred early Thursday, Dec. 16.

The break-ins occurred between 2 and 3:40 a.m. Thursday at Sip, Starbucks and Nawab Indian Cuisine. All three break-ins involved the breaking of a glass window and entering the business to commit theft.

Surveillance footage that detectives have reviewed thus far show a similar suspect at both Nawab and Sip. The subject appears to be stocky and wearing a hooded, zip-up jacket, possibly dark, multi-colored pants and work boots.
