EDITORIAL: Board Business | Press Register

Getting people to serve on local board is not easy. Most folk with above average intelligence and initiative are already busy running a successful business, holding down a professional job and making a difference in our world.

Getting them to budget time to serve on a board can be both a headache and sacrifice.

Your Clarksdale Press Register wants to thank those who serve on community boards in our community. Only in a few circumstances does it come with a paycheck and if that is the reason you took the job, you probably don’t need to serve on that board.

Board appointments were the top of the news last week as Carnegie Public Library of Clarksdale and Coahoma County has a board at odds with board member. Our Clarksdale Municipal School District Board of Trustees and Superintendent have butted heads in the past.
