FAIRVIEW PARK, Ohio — Every year big box giant Walmart holds its own “Shark Tank”-like affair allowing selected national small businesses to pitch their products in an open call.
One local business owner who made it past the first round is Terry “Pizza Bagel Lady” Thomsen, who owns Fairview Park’s Feel Good Dough and Pizagel.
“I knew about the open call and figured because I have two companies I’ll enter both,” said Rocky River resident Thomsen, a 1975 North Olmsted High School graduate. “It went great, both companies got picked.
“I talked to the buyers who were very positive. On my end, it’s basically can I fit into their stores with pricing, distribution and having enough product made for them? The best part with Walmart, at least what I found, they totally educate you. There are no surprises.”
After owning the West Side Mark’s pizza bagel stand for roughly a decade, Thomsen is ready to take the operation to a grand scale…
