FORT MYERS BEACH, Fla. — A Fort Myers Beach organization is taking donations to help silence a street preacher that business owners say is clearing out tables.
The restaurants and bars in the Times Square area say the the self-proclaimed street preacher, Adam Lacroix, has been driving away customers for months.
“There seem to be undesirable activities going on on Saturday nights, so I believe we need to fill that up with some nice pleasant music again,” said John Lallo, who’s a member of the association and owns Pete’s Time Out.
Their goal is to bring back bands on Saturday night.
They already have music on Friday, but COVID-19 cut their budget. So now they set up a GoFundMe, asking for help.
It costs $500 per night for a band to perform, $800 for yearly insurance, and $1,000 for the yearly permit. The organization says they spend about $60,000 a year on entertainment at the square.
