GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Kuyper College is partnering with area businesses to help students earn both a job and a college degree at the same time.
The Grand Rapids college was recently recognized as Michigan’s first “work college,” an official designation by the U.S. Department of Education for four-year, degree granting institutions that require all residential students to participate in a comprehensive work-service-learning program.
Butterball Farms, Inc. and Lumbermen’s Inc. will participate in the college’s new WorkPlace Partnership initiative, which will launch this fall, according to a July 26 college news release. Kuyper is currently finalizing partnership agreements with other Grand Rapids businesses, too.
“This initiative is the only one in Michigan where students can earn a degree and have a part-time entry-level position lined up to help pay tuition costs while gaining years of valuable work experience,” Kuyper College President…
