FLINT, MI — A staple restaurant in Flint has opened its doors again after being shuttered by a car crash in late 2020 that left a gaping hole in the structure.
Grandma’s Recipes, 3538 Richfield Road, in Flint reopened Thursday, June 10, exactly six months from the day of when a car crashed into the building.
“It will be nice to see all the happy faces,” Tom Campbell, co-owner of Grandma’s Recipes, said of the customers. Tom owns the business with his wife Vicki.
On Thursday, Dec. 10, a white, four-door Chevrolet was headed west on Richfield Road when it hit the business, on the south side of the road, at the corner of Richfield Road and Huggins Avenue.
The crash left a sizable hole and scattered debris.
The driver is believed to have had a medical condition that caused them to swerve off the road, police shared with Campbell at the time. The driver of the vehicle wasn’t seriously hurt, he said.
The business has insurance to cover the damage, but…
