The building, equipment and inventory of Katy Bike Rental in Defiance are the Hoffmann Family of Companies’ latest acquisitions.

This is the first venture into Defiance by David and Jerri Hoffmann, who own the Hoffmann Family of Companies, which is spending $125 million to create a national wine destination in Augusta and the Washington area to rival Napa Valley. The investment to date includes four wineries, five vineyards, 1,250 acres, several small businesses and the revitalization of more than a dozen buildings.

Their latest buy is part of a plan to capitalize on the nearby 240-mile Katy Trail, according to Ashley Hesjedal, director of specialty retail for the Hoffmann Family of Companies.
