Residents and business owners in Latrobe and Unity are being challenged to show how they “Bleed Black and Gold” in a decorating contest that will be featured as part of a Steelers Week promotion Monday through Aug. 6 in the two neighboring municipalities.
Sunday is the deadline to register for the house- and business-decorating contest.
According to organizer Beth Straka, community service officer with the Latrobe Police Department, one winning home each will be selected in the city and the township, and each will receive a prize of two tickets to the Aug. 12 game between the Steelers and the Detroit Lions.
The winning business will receive an autographed football to display.
According to a post on the city’s Facebook page, the contest and Steelers Week event are meant “to stir football season excitement and help our local businesses rebound from the covid-19 pandemic,” even though NFL pandemic protocols will keep the Steelers from attending…
