A New York man grabbed a tip jar from a Hoboken business and fled Wednesday afternoon, but an employee chased after him until police arrived, authorities said.
Daniel Bostick, 24, was charged with theft and criminal mischief at 1:37 p.m. after he was confronted by Police Officer Jason Montalvo on Court Street, Hoboken Lt. Danilo Cabrera said.
Just after 1:30 p.m., Montalvo saw a man carrying a plastic jar being chased by another man, Cabrera said. After stopping Bostick, Montalvo saw that there was money inside the tip jar. Police declined to identify the business, which is located on the 100 block of Washington Street, but said that $145 in tips was recovered.
As Bostick was being searched, he started yelling and he struck his head against the rear windshield of a parked car, causing it to shatter. Bostick was taken to police headquarters and offered medical attention.
