New minority-owned clothing business hosts soft opening

PEORIA (HOI) — Peoria’s newest women’s clothing store has a simple mission, and the husband and wife team behind it is excited to make it happen.

“Our community deserves to have high quality merchandise at an affordable price,” Co-Owner Charles Miner said.

Charles and his wife Drea own “It’s Miner Things”, located in the Sunbeam building just east of Bradley University on Main St.

Their business first started a year ago when they began hosting popup shops at outdoor markets during the pandemic.

Now, Drea hopes their first brick and mortar location will help them connect with the community.

“We know everybody is coming out of a pandemic so we don’t want you to go broke trying to accessorize your lifestyle,” Co-Owner Drea Miner said.

The Miner’s say they are mainly focusing on accessories to start out and are sourcing inventory from wholesalers.

Hats, shoes and jewelry are some of the items currently on the shelves….
