Next Downtown Long Beach Alliance grants help personal service businesses – Press Telegram

Another round of small business grants from the Downtown Long Beach Alliance will help personal care, and health and wellness business owners there who had to close during the coronavirus pandemic.

In April and May this year, the DLBA distributed grants of up to $10,000 to restaurant and bar owners. That money helped with expenses, such as for creating outdoor dining, and pandemic recovery costs.

The alliance will divvy up $90,000, with individual grants ranging from $1,250 to $4,750, based on three categories: independent contractors, personal care establishments, and independent gyms and fitness studios. The personal care industry includes barber shops, skin care providers and tattoo artists.

Grants can be used to pay missed rent or other expenses incurred during the pandemic. The two primary qualifying factors are being closed for some portion of the pandemic and having a business license for a company in the DLBA footprint.
