Pandemic forces man to close business, turns to writing

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A Kentucky man who started a business about seven years ago, traveling the state bringing exotic animals up close with the public, had to cease operations due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I had to change what I was doing for my family and for my business,” said Gary Bussa, founder of Des Coveries Education & Entertainment. “I went from being surrounded by a lot of kids, a lot of teachers, a lot of families to nothing. I was at home.”

Because he could no longer hold his animal education shows, Bussa said he was faced with a tough decision. Not only did he have all this free time now on his hands, he also had to find another way to stay afloat financially.

“I’ve always wanted to write a children’s book,” said Bussa.
