Saline hashes out framework for city’s medical marijuana businesses

SALINE, MI – Washtenaw County is a weed-friendly place.

Ann Arbor residents and University of Michigan students fought for marijuana use since the 1960s, while Ypsilanti, Dexter and some surrounding townships have recently taken advantage of the legalization of recreational cannabis in Michigan.

Saline took a small step Monday night toward joining its pro-marijuana neighbors, unanimously approving the permit process for medicinal marijuana facilities.

The city council voted to allow permits in certain corners of Saline for medicinal marijuana businesses that purchase, sell, process, decontaminate and transport products. It may be July until this framework is implemented, said Mike Greene, assistant city manager, during the council’s June 21 meeting.
