There are a lot of books about leadership and management. Typing “leadership” into Amazon yields more than 60,000 book results; “management” more than 70,000. A lot of books indeed!
It’s not clear who’s reading all these books—or who could make a dent in a bookshelf of that size even if all they did was read all day long. As an executive advisor and coach I try to stay current with “the literature,” and my clients share books they find useful, but at best I feel like I’ve just got a finger on the pulse of the major ideas. That said, it also feels like a lot of leadership and management books are pretty flavor-of-the-month, with today’s hot TED speaker quickly pushing aside yesterday’s, for a brief moment in the spotlight before tomorrow’s comes along.
Instead of jumping on that crazy carousel, for this year-end holiday break, why not pick up a book…
