Tennis star Naomi Osaka withdrawing from the French Open due to mental health issues should be considered a tipping point in the world of sports.  The business of sport has always amplified athlete’s physical prowess while glorifying their achievements on the field of play. Yet there is another side that often gets lost in the conversation, the part that recognizes an athlete’s complexity and fragility of what it means to be human, the connective tissue between player and spectator.
