When the pandemic crippled his business, a Redondo Beach man started selling burgers in his driveway – Daily Breeze

Matthew McIvor is flipping burgers for a living, and he couldn’t be happier.

After the 40-year-old Redondo Beach resident lost most of his clients from his regular job due to the pandemic, McIvor went from running a PR agency representing restaurants and others in the hospitality business to actually working in the hospitality industry.

But no, you won’t find him at the local drive-thru, he’s on the move serving smash burgers from his portable griddle under the name, Proudly Serving LA.

And McIvor wants customers to know that they’ll be eligible for a side of conversation from the talkative chef along with their burger.

“I just want people to come out. If you love burgers, come and say hello, please. I don’t only want to serve people burgers, I want to know who people are,” said McIvor, who now runs his pop-up from various locations about four days a week making more than 100 burgers per stop.
