Wichita man is back in business after someone stole his truck and trailer

WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) – It was Tuesday when Tony Hammeke, of Wichita, had his truck and his trailer stolen while on the job. 

For several days he scoured Sedgwick County hoping to find the property he uses to keep his business, Tony H. Hauling and Junk Removal, afloat. 

“I lost a lot of business this week. I had to pick up the phone and tell customers I’m sorry but I can’t do much without my truck and trailer,” said Hammeke. 

At first glance, Hammeke’s property may just look like a pile of trash in a wood box, but to him it’s his treasure. 

“This truck and trailer has been providing my family with money and paying the bills,” said Hammeke. 

KAKE News first reported the theft on Thursday and shortly after our story aired, a local congregation came to the rescue. 

Hammeke’s story caught the attention of many and when St. Jude Catholic Church noticed the trailer was in their parking lot, they knew there was more to the story.
