Woman shot on popular downtown Syracuse block; residence and business also hit

Syracuse, N.Y. — A 21-year-old woman was shot in the foot in the Armory Square neighborhood in downtown Syracuse early Sunday morning, police said.

Officers found the woman after responding to a call of shots fired in the 300 block of South Clinton Street at about 12:28 a.m., said Syracuse police spokesman Matthew Malinowski. The woman was taken to Crouse Hospital and is expected to survive.

Bullets also struck a residence and a business on the block, Malinowski said, although it was unclear which business was hit. Police dispatch records indicated the call was nearest the building at 316 S. Clinton, which houses Three Lives, an arcade/bar that opened under a year ago.

No damage was apparent on the building. Across the street, Funk n’ Waffles was serving breakfast as usual on Sunday morning.

Police are still investigating the incident and ask anyone with information to call the Syracuse Police Department at 315-442-5222.
